This project began with a Training Needs Analysis (TNA) focused on the growing impact of artificial intelligence (AI) in graphic design education. Through audience analysis, stakeholder identification, and gap analysis, I examined the challenges faced by mid-career graphic design instructors who are balancing increased workloads, accelerated course schedules, and evolving expectations surrounding student AI use. Research methods included surveys, interviews, focus groups, observations, and curriculum reviews to identify knowledge gaps related to AI integration, assessment practices, and instructional efficiency.
The analysis revealed a need for practical, standardized guidance that would help instructors confidently integrate AI into existing coursework while maintaining academic integrity and design learning outcomes. Based on these findings, I designed a faculty training solution that introduced instructors to responsible AI integration strategies, demonstrated the use of Adobe Express AI for instructional content creation, and provided frameworks for adapting assignments without requiring complete course redesigns.
Project deliverables included a training presentation, instructional video, quick-reference guide, assessment activities, and evaluation plan aligned with Kirkpatrick’s Four Levels of Evaluation. The training emphasized real-world application by helping instructors identify opportunities to incorporate AI into their courses, develop clear expectations for student AI use, and leverage AI tools to improve workflow efficiency while supporting creativity, ethics, and instructional quality.
